Updated: Wednesday Night, December 18th, 2013
Reported by: Chief Meteorologist Joe Murgo

A major warm up will start Thursday. With partial sunshine and a west-southwesterly breeze, temperatures will reach into the lower 40s in many spots. More spots will reach into the lower to middle 40s on Friday despite a good deal of clouds and some showers moving in. The mercury will not drop much Friday night and then will rise to near 50 on Saturday despite being damp and foggy. Some spots may make a run to near 60 on Sunday with showers and perhaps even a thunderstorm as a cold front approaches. Behind the front, any rain showers will change to snow showers along with a gusty wind on Monday. Temperatures will probably start in the upper 30s to near 40 but then drop through the day. Christmas Eve day will be windy and chilly with variable cloudiness and scattered flurries and snow showers. There may be a new covering of snow in places for before Christmas arrives. Otherwise, Christmas day will be partly sunny and seasonably chilly.
