A major thaw will continue to develop as we head into the weekend.
Updated: Thursday Night, December 19th, 2013
Reported by: Chief Meteorologist Joe Murgo

Friday will be mild despite more clouds and some showers developing. Highs will be within a few degrees of 50. The mercury will actually hold in the 40s Friday night with fog developing. Saturday will also be cloudy and mild with periods of rain and some areas of fog with highs in the lower 50s. The mercury may hold in the 50s Saturday night and will rise to near 60 on Sunday. There will be showers and perhaps a thunderstorm Sunday as a cold front sweeps into the region. Behind the front, temperatures will drop on Monday with any rain showers changing to snow showers. Christmas Eve day will be a cold day with variable cloudiness and scattered flurries and snow showers. This means some spots may have a new whitening of the ground before a partly sunny and seasonably chilly Christmas Day.
