The bitter cold will ease on Friday but snow will return before the sun rises on Saturday.

Friday will still be cold, but not as bitter. We'll have more clouds than sunshine with a couple of stray flurries. A storm system will bring some snow back to the area later Friday night. This storm will bring a moderate to heavier snowfall on Saturday. The snow may mix with some freezing rain or sleet down near the Maryland border. It's too early for exact amounts but I would plan on a shovelable snowfall of more than a few inches with slick travel on Saturday. As of this writing, the National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for part of the area; however, we believe that anyone in our region can get the snowfall with this storm. This will be a fast moving storm. The bulk of the accumulation will be done by Saturday evening with leftover snow showers tapering off on Sunday. Monday will also be blustery and cold with some clouds, scattered flurries and snow showers. Another front will bring some more flurries and snow showers for the midweek before temperatures relax later next week.
