A surge of heat will press into the area for the middle of the week.
Updated: Monday Night, September 9th, 2013
Reported by: Chief Meteorologist Joe Murgo

We'll have a surge of steamy air for a couple of days. Tuesday will feature some hazy sunshine with highs in the middle to upper 80s. There is only a slight chance for a pop up shower or thunderstorm Tuesday afternoon. Wednesday will be very warm and humid with some hazy sunshine, but there will be a better chance for a couple of pop up showers or thunderstorms to be around as a cold front starts to approach from the north. This front will bring scattered showers and maybe a thunderstorm on Thursday. Behind the front, a much chillier air mass will move in for the end of the work week. Friday will bring a good deal of clouds with a cool breeze and a couple of isolated showers. Temperatures will probably not rise higher than the 60s in most, if not all places on Friday with the wind making it feel colder than that. The core of the air mass will settle over the region on Saturday. Temperatures on Saturday will once again only reach the 60s, but it won't feel as cold with more sunshine and less wind. A clear sky and light winds will help the mercury drop into the lower 40s, and in some spots the upper 30s Saturday night. Sunday will then turn a little milder with a sunny to partly cloudy sky.
