Union members will receive raises each year of the 3-year deal.

ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY - Registered nurses approved a 3-year union contract Thursday night with the Altoona Regional Health System .

Members of SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania will get a four percent raise the first and third year. They'll get a three percent raise the second year.

The contract covers 800 registered nurses at both hospital campuses. It takes effect January 1.

"Both Altoona Regional and SEIU bargained in good faith and either approved or compromised on many policies and matters dealing with staffing, health care and time-off benefits, and other issues," said Jerry Murray, Altoona Regional president and CEO, in a written statement. "I want to thank and recognize members of both negotiating committees for their efforts in achieving a fair contract," Murray said.
