New Pa. Breast Density Law

Women must be notified of breast density.
Pennsylvania could soon have a new law designed to give women more specific information about their mammograms.
Governor Tom Corbett is expected to sign the Breast Density Notification Act. It will require facilities that do mammograms to give a woman information about the density of her breast tissue.
Dense and highly dense breast tissue is not abnormal but it can make lumps or other abnormalities more difficult to see.  It's estimated that at least 40 percent of women have dense breast tissue, which is more common in younger women.

Under the new law, women must be told  they may need additional screening tests for breast cancer, if they have dense or highly dense breast tissue.
