Man Accused of Injuring Police Officer Identified

The identity of a man accused of injuring a Centre County police officer is released.
STATE COLLEGE, CENTRE COUNTY - The identity of a man accused of injuring a Centre County police officer is released.

19 year-old Brandon Bednash, from Scranton, is charged with felony aggravated assault and escape counts after allegedly injuring a State College Police Officer while resisting arrest during Penn State's homecoming weekend.

Police say Bednash was questioned by the officer after allegedly urinating in public when he tried to run away from the officer, knocking her to the ground and dragging her out into South Atherton Street traffic.

The officer was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center with knee and elbow injuries.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
