Green Report: Video Competition

Area students make video projects to promote recycling.
HOLLIDAYSBURG, BLAIR COUNTY - Area students make video projects to promote recycling.

Blair County Commissioners honored the top winners of the 15th annual Environmental Video Competitions at their meeting Tuesday.

There were 42 groups of students broken into Elementary, Middle, and High School categories. They came up with green skits based on the theme "I've bin recycling".  Even the prize for the winners is green. The top three teams in each category got a certificate in a recycled frame made from a computer circuit board. The number one group in each category also got $250.

The elementary school winner was Juniata Gap with "Half a Minute to Bin It". Altoona Area Junior High took their division with "I've Been Recycling, How About You? And Claysburg-Kimmel is the top high school this year with "The Annoying Bin".

Terry Stacey from the Blair County Solid Waste Department hopes all these students will take what they learned doing their projects, and pass it on to others.
