JOHNSTOWN, CAMBRIA COUNTY--- Ron Repak was arraigned in federal court and let go on $10,000 unsecured bond on Wednesday morning.
Repak was indicted by a federal grand jury more than a week ago. He is facing six felony counts of bribery and extortion. He entered a plea in court of “not guilty.”
“My clients intentions are to take this case to trial,” said Defense Attorney Alexander Lindsay. “He is a very prominent member of the community and has done a lot for the area.”
But those who served on the board with Repak don’t agree with that statement.
“This hurt the entire community,” said Msgr. Raymond Balta. “There is just not one victim here; there are a lot of victims.”
The U.S. Attorney says Repak violated the law by accepting bribes. He is accused of getting things for his son’s private business, a new roof for his home and tickets to Steelers games. The judge said he could not travel out of the Western District and had to turn in his passport.
A trial date has not yet been set.
