New figures from the State Health Department show our region is still getting slammed by the flu. Blair County maintains the top spot with the largest number of confirmed influenza cases in Pennsylvania.
As of the latest reporting period which ended on December 28, 110 more people had been diagnosed with the flu in Blair County, raising the total this season to 189.
The number of confirmed flu cases in Bedford, Cambria, Centre, Clearfield, and Huntingdon and Somerset Counties also continued to mount with the illness nearly doubling in some areas.
The total number of influenza infections could actually be much higher because the state only records cases confirmed in the laboratory.
