Automated external defibrillators or AEDs can get youir heart moving again at a normal rate if you go into sudden cardiac arrest. But the FDA has issued a warning about some models of the device.
The agency says the Certain Heartstart AEDs made by Philips Medical Systems may not work correctly. They've been recalled but the FDA says the devices still in use need to be better inspected and monitored.
A spokesman from the Southern Alleghenies EMS Council says, however, most emergency responders and schools in our region use AEDs made by other companies.
