Temperatures spiked across the region today with many spots in the mid 80s. Altoona reached 86° in the afternoon, within two degrees of the record set in 1900. Relief from the midsummer temperatures and lack of rainfall will arrive early Monday as a cold front pushes in from the west. It will be breezy Monday with periods of rain and high temperatures in the 60s. The front will move through pretty quick and we may get some clearing Monday night into Tuesday with low temperatures in the 40s. High pressure will start building in Tuesday, but it will be relatively cool with highs near seasonal and a good deal of sunshine. High pressure will dominate our weather pattern for the second half of the week with a mix of sunshine and a few clouds and highs near 70 by the weekend.
