Drive-In Battle

The battle over an area drive-in is heading to the courts.
PORTAGE, CAMBRIA COUNTY - The battle over an area drive-in is heading to the courts.

The battle started because of where their sign is, and it's gotten more heated online. Now the owner and township officials are getting their opinions out there before it heads to court.

Portage Township Supervisors say the sign advertising the Bar Ann Drive-In is on their right of way. And their solicitor told them if the sign causes an accident the township would be liable.

But Dustin Grush doesn't see why this is just now a problem. The drive-in manager says the sign has been there for 60 years without a problem. And he worries moving down the only sign that indicates where the drive-in is would cripple his business.

Both sides say the other won't work with them about the sign. And now it will be in the hands of a Cambria County judge.

The topic is expected to come up at the next township supervisors meeting on January 6th.
