Dashcam Video Shows 'Officer of the Year' Earning Title

State Police believe gunman Jeffrey Lee Michael was looking for more victims in last December's shooting spree.
FRANKSTOWN TWP., BLAIR COUNTY - Video obtained by WTAJ Thursday shows Tpr. Timothy Strohmeyer heading into gunfire to stop active shooter, Jeffrey Lee Michael.

Police released the dashcam video from Tpr. Strohmeyer's cruiser during the Geeseytown shooting spree.

In the beginning, in the distance you see shooter, Jeffery Lee Michael's truck crashed into a state police cruiser.

Inside that disabled cruiser, Tpr. Kevin Campbell was trapped and at the other end of Michael's handgun.

That's when Strohmeyer rams Michael's truck, diverting the gunman's attention. On the left side of your screen can you see Micheal walking towards cruiser, firing.

Strohmeyer is saved by his bulletproof vest.  Wounded, he managed to take Michael down.  In the end, his windshield riddled by 8 bullets.

This ended the shooting spree last December that left 3 innocent victims, Kim Scott, Kenneth Lynn and Bill Rhodes Junior dead.

Tpr. Strohmeyer was given one of the highest honors a law enforcement officer can receive, the International Officer of the Year Award.  He received it during a ceremony in Philadelphia and was congratulated by US Attorney General Eric Holder.

Earlier this year all 3 Hollidaysburg troopers involved in stopping Michael were honored by State Police, Trooper Dave Nazaruk, along with Campbell and Strohmeyer.  All three were credited for putting their lives on the line to protect the community from a man on a deadly rampage.
