Penn State defensive line thrives in opener.
STATE COLLEGE - Nicknamed “Coach Chaos” for his on-field intensity, defensive line coach Sean Spencer turned warrior-poet for Penn State's opener, providing pre-game motivation in verse.

While the meter and rhyme scheme remain a mystery, the effects have been clear.

Most visibly on the defensive line that Spencer mentors.

The unit coming up with six tackles for loss and a pair of sacks against UCF.

A couple of high-motor guys in the middle, Athony Zettel and Austin Johnson are providing plenty of pressure.

"Those two guys have a chance to be special,” says head coach James Franklin. “They really do. I think we need to rotate more guys in, especially when it comes to Zettel. I think he played a little bit too many reps in the game. And we want to make sure that we're keeping him fresh for fourth quarters, but also keep him fresh throughout the year."

As for who could soon see bigger roles on the d-line, Franklin singled out redshirt freshman Parker Cothren and junior college transfer Tarow Barney as players to watch.
