Where Can I Photograph Wildlife?

Where Can I Photograph Wildlife?

The weather is slowly getting nicer which means nature's beauty will be abound.

Need a place to snap photos of wildlife? Look no further than Rothrock State Forest in Central Pennsylvania! Located a few miles south of State College, this forest covers over 96,000 acres across three counties. Three state parks are located within the forest – Greenwood Furnace State Park, Penn Roosevelt State Park and Whipple Dam State Park – along with several natural areas that protect unique or unusual biologic, geologic, scenic and historical features with the forest.  Rothrock State Forest is home to nearly 300 miles of hiking trails and provides space for other recreational activities, such as camping, fishing, horseback riding, sightseeing, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.

If you visit the forest, check out these detailed maps to help you plan your trip. Take your camera with you and keep an eye out for eastern cottontail rabbits, North American porcupines, bobcats, striped skunks, bald eagles, barred owls and many more animals! Upload your photos to the Eyes on Central PA Mission on Project Noah. Your photo may be featured on this page or on Your Weather Authority's next on-air broadcast!
