Wal-Mart cites poor weather in latest earnings

The company said the weather accounted for more than $100 million in losses the first quarter of 2014.
BENTONVILLE, ARKANSAS – The latest earnings from the world’s largest retailer is blaming a dip in sales on the weather.

In its latest earnings release, Wal-Mart mentioned the impact of weather eight times, saying that “unseasonably cold and disruptive” weather hurt sales.

The company said the weather accounted for about $120 million in losses for the first quarter of 2014 compared to with the same period in 2013.
