VIDEO: "I'm Excited," Franco Explains Why He's Staying at Altoona

Mountain Lions head coach sets record straight following speculation that he might head to Tyrone.
ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY - After nearly a month of speculation, John Franco has decided to stay put at Altoona.

Reports surfaced back in late January that the long time head coach may leave the Mountain Lions football program to head back to Tyrone (won PIAA Championship with Golden Eagles in 1999).  However Franco cleared everything up on Tuesday by telling WTAJ Sports Director K.C. Kantz that he will remain as head coach of the Mountain Lions.

"It was simply the matter of a few people at Tyrone who asked me if I would listen to an offer (if they came up with one) and i said sure I'd listen, and there was never one," Franco said Wednesday.

Franco went on to say, "I'm really anxious to stay here at Altoona.  I think we've got some good things started and i'm excited to really get on with it, full speed ahead with out any of the question marks that have been over our head for the last month."
