UPDATE: One Killed in Four-Vehicle Crash

Drivers should avoid the area of 879 near Anderson Equipment.
CURWENSVILLE, CLEARFIELD COUNTY - 10:00 am update:

Officials tell WTAJ one person died in the crash on Route 879.  It involved four vehicles.  The road is closed in the area near Anderson Equipment.  PennDOT released an advisory.  Here it is in its entirety:

Section of Route 879 Closed in Clearfield County

 

Clearfield – PennDOT advises drivers that a section of Route 879 remains closed in both directions in Clearfield County, due to a crash. The southbound and northbound lanes of Route 879 are closed from the Old Erie Pike in Pike Township to Bailey Settlement Road in Lawrence Township.

 

PennDOT expects the roadway to open by early afternoon today. In the meantime, drivers will need to find alternate routes around the closure.

8:30 am update: 


Police and fire crews are on the scene of a crash on Route 879 between Curwensville and Clearfield. 

At least two vehicles are believed to be involved.  The crash is right in front of Anderson Equipment.  Route 879 is closed in that area.  We do not have confirmation on the conditions of the people involved.
