United Cancelled Thousands of Flights So Far in 2014

Many cancellations were due to the bad weather.
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS – The second largest airline in the world announced Thursday they cancelled 22,500 flights in January and February this year, due mainly to bad weather.

The amount of cancellations is four times the number of flights United Continental cancelled during the first two months of 2013.

Airlines with hubs in the northeast were hit particularly hard with weather problems. United has major hubs in Chicago and Newark. Cleveland will cease to be a United hub in June.

United operates flights from Altoona, Johnstown, State College, DuBois, and Bradford in Central Pennsylvania.
