Ukraine Announces Early Elections

More than 100 people have been killed in protests this week.
KIEV, UKRAINE – The Ukrainian government and opposition leaders signed an EU-mediated peace deal Friday, aiming to end a violent standoff which has left dozens dead and opening the way for an early presidential election this year.

At least 70 people were killed in clashes Thursday with hundreds more wounded.

Vice President Joe Biden says the U.S. is ready to impose economic sanctions on Ukrainian officials responsible for the violence.

More than 100 people have died in the violence there this week.
