Tuesday Midday Forecast, July 29, 2014

Cool with a spotty shower around.
UPDATED TUESDAY MIDDAY, JULY 29TH
REPORTED BY METEOROLOGIST REGINA MILLER

THIS AFTERNOON WILL STILL BE UNSEASONABLY COOL.  HIGHS WILL RANGE FROM THE UPPER 60S TO AROUND 70.   WE’LL HAVE A MIXTURE OF CLOUDS AND OCCASIONAL SUN AT TIMES.  WHEN THERE IS COOLER AIR ALOFT (LIKE THERE IS THIS WEEK), ONCE THE SUN COMES UP, DAYTIME HEATING CAN LEAD TO INSTABILITY CLOUDS AND PERHAPS A SHOWER.  THAT OCCURS BECAUSE THE SUNSHINE HEATS THE AIR AT THE SURFACE CAUSING IT TO RISE AND ANY MOISTURE CONDENSES QUICKLY IN THE COOLER AIR ALOFT CAUSING CLOUDS TO BUILD AND PERHAPS A SHOWER.  OFTEN TIMES THE SUNSET ALLOWS CLOUDS TO DISSIPATE.  TEMPERATURES WILL BE COOL DURING THE OVERNIGHT HOURS FOR MUCH OF THIS WEEK AS WELL WITH LOWS RANGING FROM THE UPPER 40s IN SOME SPOTS TO THE LOW 50s OTHERS.  BECAUSE OF THE TROUGH IN THE JETSTREAM WE WILL CONTINUE TO SEE THE CHANCE FOR A SHOWER OR STORM NEARLY EVERYDAY THIS WEEK.  THE BEST DAY THIS WEEK APPEARS TO BE THURSDAY.  WE WILL HAVE PARTLY SUNNY SKIES, AND EVEN THOUGH MOST OF THE REGION WILL BE DRY, AN ISOLATED SHOWER STILL CAN’T BE COMPLETELY RULED OUT.  FRIDAY WE'LL HAVE CLOUDS WHICH WILL OCCASIONALLY BREAK FOR SUNSHINE.  MUCH OF THE WEEK WE WILL BE RUNNING BETWEEN TEN TO FIFTEEN DEGREES BELOW WHAT WE WOULD TYPICALLY EXPECT TO SEE FOR THIS TIME OF THE YEAR.  AS A RIDGE STARTS TO BUILD AGAIN IN THE JETSTREAM FOR THE LATE WEEK INTO THE WEEKEND, TEMPERATURES WILL FINALLY START TO WARM BACK INTO THE LOW 80s.  HOWEVER, EVEN THOUGH TEMPS WILL START TO BECOME A BIT WARMER, THE CHANCE FOR SOME SCATTERED SHOWERS AND STORMS WILL STILL PERSIST ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY AS WELL.
