Toyota Recalls Millions of Vehicles

A software problem could cause vehicles to stop suddenly.
NEW YORK - Toyota Motors announced Wednesday a recall affecting approximately two million vehicles around the world due to a needed software update.

Included in the recall for North America are 713,000 Prius vehicles from 2010-2014 and 260,000 other vehicles, including the RAV4 from 2012, the Tacoma from 2012-2013, and the Lexus RX 350 from 2012-2013.

The automaker said the software update is needed because of a problem with the electronic circuits which could shut off functions for vehicle stability control, anti-lock brake and traction control.

Nearly one million Prius were recalled in Japan and more than 100,000 in Europe.
