Too Tired to Drive

A fatal crash involving a celebrity's limo and a tractor trailer is causing a discussion over fatigued drivers.
CLEARFIELD COUNTY - Federal regulations say a truck driver can only be on the road 11 hours out of a 14 hour work day.

They further say a driver cannot work more than 70 hours a week and a 36 hour break must be taken between weeks.

Some companies even have devices on trucks that automatically clock when a person is driving.

In a career where time is money, pulling off of the road for fatigue may not be the first thing on someone's mind.

A recent fatal crash involving a fatigued tractor trailer driver hitting comedian Tracy Morgan's limo has thrust regulations into the spotlight and some people are wondering if current regulations are enough.

Companies are even working on ways to limit driver fatigue by adding partners. With a partner, the driver has someone to talk to and they can switch off and on driving.
