Toddler dies in McKeesport house fire

Three homes were destroyed and one other damaged.
MCKEESPORT, ALLEGHENY COUNTY – A 2-year-old girl died in a fire that destroyed three homes and damaged another Sunday night.

According to our news partner KDKA, four families have been displaced as a result of the fire that started around 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

A neighbor said despite the wishes of many to go in after her, there was no way to get past the flames. A young cousin of the victim did try to re-enter the house and suffered second-degree burns. The child was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital.

The mother of the girl that died was out of town visiting a relative in Florida when the fire started.

The cause of the fire is unknown and Allegheny County Fire Marshals began their investigation Monday morning.
