JOHNSTOWN, CAMBRIA COUNTY--- One man makes a plea to the public, ‘stop the killings.”

“You may get away with it for awhile,” said Stan Oliver.  “But you’ll go to jail one way or another.”

Stan Oliver knows better than anyone that the justice system will catch up with you in time.  The 33-year old spent most of his life in and out of jail since he was a teen, he assumed it was a lifestyle he would always have.”

“I thought I would be dead by now,” said Oliver.

The Philadelphia man is currently on parole.  He said the last time he was in jail something clicked, he knew he needed to start over.  He moved to Johnstown near some family members, took his passion for cars to start his own business.   He opened ‘American Stan Auto’ in Moxham.  Oliver said he pays taxes, and has bills- he said it’s not always easy.

“I want to do the right thing in life,” said Oliver.   "I'm scared to fail if this falls through I wonder what's my next move that's what I tell myself keep on track stay focused one way or another."

Outside of his business on a sign he wrote ‘Stop the killings.”

“These kids, if I could talk to them I would tell them they’re making the biggest mistake of their life,” said Oliver.  “Jail isn’t fun- it’s wasted time with a bunch of men you can’t get back.”

Oliver said violence isn’t the answer.  He’s seen it destroy his own family and nearly destroy him.

“I still have a long way to go, but am I proud of how far I’ve come, yes I am,” said Oliver.  “I need to be a better person for me, my family and my kids- I hope people realize there is more to life the crime.”
