Steve Newton is the WTAJ Stormtracker Weekend Meteorologist/Web Producer. He comes to Central Pennsylvania from Central Montana where he spent more than a year there as a meteorologist/reporter.

Steve was raised in the Seattle area, and earned his bachelor's degree in atmospheric sciences from the University of Washington in 2009. His initial focus was studying hurricanes and becoming a hurricane hunter, but decided to focus on broadcasting during an internship at KOMO-TV in Seattle his junior year.

After returning to school in 2010 to study journalism and tutor math, he moved to Montana as a meteorologist/reporter in 2011 to provide forecasts for two-thirds of the state. Steve mainly presented weather on the weekends and joked he "reported five days a week and did weather on the side." After more than a year in Big Sky Country, Steve decided the east coast would be his next challenge.

When not in the office, Steve can be found working on one of his many screenplays, working out, or in a bowling alley. During the winter, you might find him on the ski slopes on either a snowboard or possibly a pair of skis.

Steve is excited to sink his teeth into forecasting for the east coast and experiencing the history of the Northeast.
