State Patty’s Day fading

New numbers show a steep decline in arrests and citations.
STATE COLLEGE, CENTRE COUNTY – New information released by Penn State University shows the student-made drinking holiday is continuing to lose steam.

During this year’s event, which ran between February 28th and March 2nd, police logged 102 arrests and citations during State Patty’s Day, a 58 percent drop from 2013.

Overall, local police report 135 crime and ordinance violations. The number reflects a 47 percent decrease from 2013 and a 75 percent decline in arrests from 2011.

Campus and community leaders are discussing plans for a festival in 2015 to continue combating State Patty’s Day.
