Ski Report - December 12th, 2013

This is likely the best start to the ski season in about a decade.
While we've had some early season snowfall, it's truly the late autumn/early winter cold weather that set the stage for one of the better starts to ski season since 2002. Snowshoe opened up Thanksgiving Day and continues to improve. Seven Springs, Wisp, Whitetail and Tussey Mountain also opened last weekend. The rest of the region's resorts are now open and are open full time for the weekend. Slope counts are growing each day so make sure you check with your resort before heading out.

As for the weather, Opening Day for some of the resorts will be nice but a little chilly on Friday. We'll have clouds and some sunshine with just some scattered flurries, maybe a fresh covering for the New York resorts. A moderate snowfall is likely on Saturday and there will be a nice covering for by Saturday afternoon. A touch of freezing rain is possible Saturday night but then snow showers are likely again on Sunday.
