Single Bout of Binge Drinking Dangerous

Releases toxins throughout the body.

It may only take one episode of binge drinking to seriously affect your health.
A new study funded by the National Institutes of Health, found that a single alcohol binge can cause bacteria to leak from the gut and increase levels of bacterial toxins in the blood.

Researchers say these toxins prompt the body to produce more immune cells, involved in fever, inflammation and tissue destruction. The toxins have been linked to other health issues related to chronic drinking such as liver disease.

Binge drinking is defined as 5 or more drinks for men, or 4 or more drinks for women, in about 2 hours.
