Sgt. Bob Timney Performs "Margaritaville"

Sgt. Timney is known throughout Pennsylvania as a powerful singer with a flare for singing The National Anthem. On today's show, he talks about his upcoming appearance at the "Freeman Fest" fundraiser concert.

Sgt. Bob Timney has become locally famous for singing the National Anthem at sporting events, including Pittsburgh Penguins Hockey games.

On today's Central PA Live, Sgt. Bob performs a song for our Spring Break Theme show and talks about an upcoming fundraiser concert that he will be involved in.

The benefit concert is in State College and will be held this weekend to raise money for a fellow musician who is going through tough times.  That musician, Scott Freeman, came back from Christmas shopping with his wife to find their house burning to the ground. He was the drummer for a popular local band called "Crazy Daze". Last year, he held an impromptu benefit for another musician, Denny Strausser, who needed eye surgery to keep from going blind. Now, those whom Scott has helped are rallying around him in his time of need.

Details on Freeman Fest (from the event coordinator)

"March 22 Concert to Benefit Scott Freeman and Family - Freeman Fest will be held March 22, from 3:00 pm to midnight, to benefit Scott and Mary Freeman and their children Alex and Dylan, who lost their home to fire shortly before Christmas. The concert will feature 9 performances, headlined by the Dancing Goats from New York City, and a reunion concert by legendary State College band Crazy Daze.

Scott Freeman is a former professional drummer, who's performed for several local acts, including Crazy Daze. Scott is a known supporter of local causes, most recently as promoter of a June 2013 concert to raise funds for beloved local soundman, Denny Strauser, for a badly needed eye surgery. In December, Scott and his wife Mary returned from Christmas shopping to find their house ablaze. The loss was total. Scott's fellow musicians ask you to help them build Scott and Mary a bridge to security, as Scott has done for so many others.

This is a ticketed event. Tickets are $20. The concert will include light snacks from 3-5, a homemade lasagna dinner from 6-8, and open bar from 4-8, for only $20, pre-purchase. Entrance after 8 will be Space-Available Only for a $10 cover. The show will open with acoustic music through dinner, including a performance by local Americana favorites Biscuit Jam. Other acts include "SGT" Bob Timney, ESP, Option 4, Mark & Roy, and a reunion by 90's classic rock band Ivory Debris. The event will be held at the Pine Grove VFW, 500 West Pine Grove Rd., Pennsylvania Furnace PA 16865.
