KANE, MCKEAN COUNTY – State Police have arrested more than a half dozen people in connection with a burglary ring, and say more arrests are pending.

State Police at Kane have been investigating a series of burglaries in McKean County during the past year. Most of the burglaries and thefts occurred in Smethport Borough and surrounding townships of Keating, Liberty, Norwich, and Annin.

The suspects arrested are:
  • Trevor Elder, 20
  • Adam Bachman, 29
  • Cameron Causer, 19
  • Mark Schneider, 19
  • Nathan Hoy, 24
  • Garret Hoy, 20
  • Austin Tankersley, 20 (not pictured)
According to police the majority of the items taken in the robberies were chainsaws, ATVs and dirt bikes.

Police say the suspects would break into sheds by cutting the locks and stealing chainsaws. They would also allegedly remove chainsaws when opportunity presented itself from under a porch of the bed of a pickup truck.

Police also said the suspects would contact people looking to sell an ATV or dirt bike, posing as a potential buyer. Once they determined when the victim would not be home, they would steal the vehicle. The suspects also allegedly stole the vehicles if the opportunity arose.

If anyone has purchased items from these suspects, it is possible the items are stolen. State Police in Kane are trying to contact the victims and attempting to recover any stolen items.

If you have had business transactions with one or more of these individuals, contact PSP Kane at 814-778-5555.
