School Board Gets Update on Renovation Project

A major high school renovation project is yet another step closer to becoming a reality.
STATE COLLEGE, CENTRE COUNTY - The State College Area School District now has a calendar in hand, detailing the timeline of their high school renovation project.

There are two versions of the State High Project calendar.

The first is an overview of the project's next steps and milestones for the coming year. The second is a more detailed look at the design details and construction timing.

The project's design is expected to be complete by mid-2015. The design team will update the public over the next several months with drawings of their concepts.

Those updates are expected to be released in October, January and April.

The board will be able to review a preliminary project design at their October 13th meeting and high school faculty, staff and students will review the plan the week of October 20th.

A public forum for the project is scheduled for the week of October 27th.

Construction is expected to begin next summer and will take about 30 months to complete.

The high school renovation project got the green light from voters in May. The district expects to incur about $85 million in debt for the project.
