HARRISBURG – Governor Corbett signed “Rocco’s Law” Wednesday, increasing the penalty for anyone who harms a police animal.

The penalty goes from a third-degree to a second-degree penalty, which comes with a $25,000 fine and up to 10 years in prison.

The bill is named for a K-9 officer that was stabbed while on duty in Pittsburgh.
