Roads Were Treated Before Massive Pile Up

Penndot crews treated roads and reduced speed before the I80 pile-up.
WOODLAND, CLEARFIELD COUNTY - Clearing debris after 20 tractor trailers and 10 vehicles collide is more than a day's work.

"It’s going to take a lot of work and effort to get these tractor trailers pried apart " said Teddy Little from the Morris Township Fire Department.

He said it's doing the best you can and for hours they did.

"It was a good effort from everybody involved yesterday (Wednesday) I really thought we were going to be into today (Thursday) cleaning up out there. It was one of those, we all worked together and accomplished the goal at hand" said Tim Tekely from Penndot.

The roads were pretreated since it was a predicted snow storm.

"It was one of them ones where the only place good was good was right behind the salt truck and running it in and there's not a lot you can do other than slowing down traffic" said Tekely.

The speed was reduced to 45 miles per hour, but drivers say it was a case of quick ice.

State Police are still investigating.
