ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY - Registered nurses and UPMC Altoona will meet tomorrow for the first time since talks broke off a little over a week ago.
Nurses held a one-day strike Tuesday, February 11, and the hospital declined to put all of them back on the floors until Saturday February 15.
A hospital spokesman says UPMC is looking forward to resuming negotiations, while a representative for the SEIU, the nurses' union, says they're eager to get back to the table and are committed to getting a contract.
The nurses say staffing and benefits are the main issues. UPMC Altoona contends the RN's compensation is the major sticking point.
