Rep. Shuster introduces Transparent Airfares Act

The bill would make it easier for passengers to determine how much they are paying in government taxes.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Pennsylvania Representative Bill Shuster (R – 9th District) introduced new legislation Thursday hoping to give airlines more flexibility when advertising ticket prices.

The Transparent Airfares Act of 2014 would make it easier for passengers to tell the difference between the full ticket price and how much was government taxes.

Regulators changed the rules in 2012 hoping to make it more transparent, but members of congress said the opposite happened. The airline industry supports the new legislation.
