Relieving Hot Flashes Without Hormones

Pitt researchers release new study results.
PITTSBURGH - Researchers at UPMC say they've come up with a non-drug way  to relieve hot flashes. In  new study, they recruited 40  overweight or obese womenwho were having  four or more hot flashes a day and  who also wanted to lose weight.

Some of the women were  assigned to a weight loss program  involving  calorie  reduction and moderate exercise. The rest made no changes in their lifestyle.

Pitt researchers say women the weight loss program lost 10.7 percent of their body weight, and had fewer hot flashes.
