Raystown Dam Celebrates 40th Anniversary

Raystown Dam was dedicated on June 6, 1974. This year, marks 40 years of Raystown Lake and there is a full weekend of activity and entertainment lake-wide June 6-8, 2014 to celebrate the occassion.

Raystown Dam was dedicated on June 6, 1974. This year, marks 40 years of Raystown Lake and there is a full weekend of activity and entertainment lake-wide June 6-8, 2014 to celebrate the occassion.  On today's show, we visit the dam to see how things have changed and to hear all about the weekend celebrations.

Events include Raystown Dam tours, Raystown history programs, battle of the bands at the Seven Points Amphitheater, Fireworks at the Beach sponsored by Seven Points Marina (Raystown Lake Seven Points Recreation Area beach), DJ at the Lighthouse Seven Points Beach concession, band and trivia contest at Lake Raystown Resort - An RVC Outdoor Destination, an informal kayak event and paddleboarding demonstration.

Friends of Raystown Lake, Raystown Mountain Bicycling Association and the Huntingdon County Visitors Bureau are all partners in bringing this event to the public.
