Primanti Brothers Coming to Central PA

A Primanti Brothers is set to open in Central Pennsylvania
ALTOONA – A popular Pittsburgh restaurant is coming to Central Pennsylvania, and has a lot of people excited.

"Any business that comes into the area is a very positive thing for the local economy certainly," said Joe Hurd, President/CEO of Blair County Chamber of Commerce.

And it's certainly welcomed at the old Krispy Kreme Donut building, since it's been vacant for the last five years.

It's located right on plank road, and before it was a Krispy Kreme, it was a Fazoli's.

"We're also filling a location that has been empty for quite some time that's always felt to be a pretty advantageous location."

Now, Primanti Brothers is expected to open a new location at the site.

"I think it's great for the area,” said Bill Bumbarger, of Huntingdon. “The sandwiches are really good. If you've never had them def with coleslaw and everything on them, they're great."

"Maybe not best thing to eat if you're on a diet but I think they'll be successful,” said Colson Jones, of Altoona.

People in the area are looking forward to adding more variety to the area when it comes to places to eat.

"We get the middle of central PA of a Primanti's, and maybe get Philly Cheesesteaks this way, and everybody can win," said Bumbarger.

People are also looking forward to some more on the tax roll.

"That building been vacant for some time, and for tax payers, I'm glad to see something that will add tax base to the area,” said Jones. “I think it'll be good."

Hurd says he doesn't know exactly when the restaurant will be opening, but said he's happy that a business with the allure of Priminati's is coming to the area.
