Police, Coroner Investigating Body Found In Woods

A woman's body was found Saturday night in a wooded area.
SUSQUEHANNA TOWNSHIP, CAMBRIA COUNTY – Pennsylvania State Police and the Cambria County Coroner’s Office are continuing to investigate after a woman’s body was found along the woods in Northern Cambria Saturday night.
The woman has been identified as Amanda Sherry-Griffon, 30, of Northern Cambria.
People who live in the area were shocked to see all the police vehicles in their neighborhood Saturday night.
"We were awoken by police cars and sirens,” said Jayson Carroll, who lives nearby. “We saw some lights here at my neighbor’s house, so we came over to investigate."
It was the last thing Carroll expected to see. But what shocked him and his neighbors even more was why police were there.
"I was told a little later on, because I didn't stay around too long, that they had found a body of a young woman in the woods," said John Bernard, who lives nearby.
Just after 8 PM Saturday night, police found Sherry- Griffon’s body in the woods along Grace Street.
Carroll said he's seen in her the area recently, but he and Bernard said they didn't know her.
"It’s very concerning,” said Carroll. “Our necks of the woods up here its pretty low key."
"I would say this young lady is not from the immediate area here," said Bernard.
Cambria County Coroner Dennis Kwiatkowski couldn't say how long the body was there before the property owner discovered it, or the cause of death. But he has ruled it suspicious.
"It kind of upsets me because if something could have been done before hand to save this poor girl, I'd like to know," said Bernard.
State Police are continuing to investigate. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday morning.
