Police arrest suspects involved in shooting at Logan Valley Mall

Altoona Police confirmed the arrest shortly after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

ALTOONA – The people suspected of firing a gun at two people outside the Applebee’s at the Logan Valley Mall have been arrested, according to police.

The incident began shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday when Logan Township Police Chief Ron Heller said two people walked in front of the suspects’ van. A verbal altercation broke out between the pedestrians and the men in the van, and one of the men in the van pulled out a gun and fired at least one shot at the pedestrians. No one was hurt in the shooting.

The men fled the scene toward the Kmart, causing a large police response at the store.

Both men were arrested shortly after 5 p.m. along Union Avenue approximately one-half mile west of Pleasant Valley Boulevard. Altoona Police confirmed the arrest on their Facebook page shortly after 5:30 p.m.

The suspects' van was impounded and police recovered a handgun from the vehicle shortly before 6 p.m.
