Pirates Picks Shine in Central PA

New prospects excel for Jammers in visit to State College.

STATE COLLEGE - Many of the Pirates recent draft picks shined this week in Central PA as the Jamestown Jammers visited State College.

The group swept a pair of games from the Spikes.

Fourth-round pick Taylor Gushue really excelled. He went 3-for-4 Wednesday with a couple RBI doubles.

He says it's been a blast so far playing with the newest members of the Pirates family.

"It's really cool to see all the guys who you saw their names called on TV and you all come together,” Gushue says. “And it's really been a process. We've been learning how to be Pirates and what the organization expects of us, and how we're supposed to play the game. So that would be one word that I would use to describe it - is just exciting."

Gushue leads the jammers with 14 RBI through eleven games.

That's good for third in the New York-Penn League.
