Pigskin Previews: Tyrone Golden Eagles

Expectations are high under new leaders.
TYRONE, BLAIR COUNTY - We continue to gear up for high school football with the WTAJ Pigskin Previews.

The next team mixes new leaders with high expectations.

Tyrone will be guided by first-year head coach Jason Wilson.

The Golden Eagles also need to replace a quarterback, center, and all-state running back James Oliver.

Still, Tyrone returns a ton of talent in a program where winning at least a district title is always the goal.

And as a former assistant, Wilson already has a feel for his players.

"You know who's there. You know who's coming up through the system,” says Wilson, who also played at Tyrone. “You know who's going to be able to fill those positions. You might not get the same level of play as the guys before them, but we have an idea of who can step in and who can fill those shoes for those guys."

"We've been working really hard in the offseason to try to get up to par with someone who would have started years before so we're not coming in looking like a one-year starter that doesn't know what's happening," says quarterback and linebacker Garrett Hunter.

Tyrone opens the season with the Backyard Brawl against Bellwood-Antis.
