Philadelphia Welcomes LLWS Team Home

The Taney Dragons were honored by the city Wednesday and will be honored before the Phillies/Nationals game.
PHILADELPHIA – Thousands of people lined the streets of Philadelphia Wednesday to welcome home their Little League World Series team.

The route the Taney Dragons took Wednesday was the same route the 2008 Philadelphia Phillies took after their World Series win. The team and several floats made their way throughout the city.

The parade wrapped up with a rally at 4 p.m. The Dragons will then go to Citizens Bank Park for a pregame ceremony ahead of the Phillies game against the Washington Nationals.

“We believe in you, we support you, and we want to celebrate you when you do well,” said Philadelphia Deputy Mayor Everett Gillison. “That what I think is important.”

The Dragons fell two games short of bringing home the title.

All 12 players on the roster will simultaneously throw out ceremonial first pitches at tonight's Phillies/Nationals game. Everyone attending Wednesday’s Phillies game will receive a Taney Dragons t-shirt.
