Penn State Announces New President

Eric Barron was approved unanimously by the Board of Trustees Monday.
STATE COLLEGE, CENTRE COUNTY – The Penn State Board of Trustees unanimously confirmed Eric Barron of Florida State University as the next president of Penn State University during a meeting Monday.

Barron will begin May 12th, succeeding Rodney Erickson, who announced in 2012 his intention to retire before the end of the 2013-14 academic year.

Prior to serving as president of Florida State University, Barron was a member of the Penn State faculty beginning in 1986 and served as dean of Penn State’s College of Earth and Mineral Sciences from 2002-2006.

Barron also served as director of the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado from 2008 to 2010.
