Penelec Prepping For Storm

Officials say they'll be ready.
ALTOONA - Penelec and their parent company First Energy are currently in a stalemate with 150 local union workers who are all locked out and off the job, but they say that won't affect their ability to respond if there are power problems tomorrow.

Penelec has been tracking this storm as it approaches and their biggest issue would be with any potential ice. Slick roads could create crashes, and icy tree branches could take down power lines. With that potential damage in the forecast, Penelec says they have crews in town and on standby in case there are any major power outages. Penelec spokesperson Chris Eck says they have plenty of resources to turn to in case of emergency...
"One of the benefits of our First Energy umbrella is that we have 10 sister utility companies and we have workers coming now and some who are already here so we don't anticipate we'll be short any hands when it comes time to repair any of the damage this storm could do," Penelec Spokesperson Chris Eck says.

Eck says if you do experience any type of power outage you need to call in to let Penelec know by calling them at 1-888-544-4877.
