Pa to Improve Marcellus Shale Complaint Process

Health department announces changes.

HARRISBURG - If you have concerns or complaints about Marcellus Shale drilling, you may have an easier  time getting your issues heard. State Health Secretary Michael Wolf  has announced improvements to his department's processes for responding to environmental health complaints, particularly related to Marcellus Shale.

Those changes include outreach to the medical community, often the first to learn of health concerns, and a written letter response policy to better track and document environmental health complaints.

The health department also pledged to better coordinate and communicate with the Department of Environmental protection on these issue.

"The department's priority is to address the public's concerns, whether they are about environmental health in general or specifically related to Marcellus Shale drilling," Wolf said.
