ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY -- In "Dani Girl", this precocious  9-year old, loses her hair to Leukemia and embarks on a magical journey in order to get it back.

Katie Kensinger plays Dani. "Dani is just full of energy and she's a little bit morbid for a kid. She's so much fun and her imagination is just incredible."

She and her guardian angel - are the creation of muscial writing team Christopher Dimond and Altoona native Michael Kooman.

Playwright Michael Kooman grew up here with neighbor Brian Morden.

"He was my first friend, and he was my best friend, and we lived next door to each other."

They went through school together; both sharing their love of music.
Brian's life was cut short by cancer.
He courageously battled Ewing's Sarcoma and died in 2003.

Dawn Morden, Brian's Mom says, "I know he's here. I know he's beaming because there are so many connections to his past."

To honor Brian and raise money for his Foundation, Michael and friends are putting on "Dani Girl" for one show Saturday night.

It's really a hope-filled musical and an uplifting musical at the same dealing with a subject that we've all been touched by cancer."

Brian's mom is deeply touched.

Dawn Morden says, "There's just so many different emotions and memories it evokes for me that makes it difficult." And hopes you will be too."I think they'll maybe better understand what somebody has to go through including a family and any young child."

This musical about life, laughter and finding your hair will be performed on the historic Mishler Theatre Saturday night. Curtain is at 7:30pm.

The Brian Morden Foundation helps in the fight against pediatric cancers.
