McGinnis to Address School Board Monday Evening

The state representative asked to address members about the looming pension shortfall.
ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY – State Representative John McGinnis requested time to speak to the Altoona Area School Board to brief them on what he describes as a “pension crisis” in the state.

The freshman lawmaker from Blair County is part of an effort in Harrisburg to draw attention to what some legislators say should be a major financial concern for taxpayers in the state.

McGinnis believes the growing pension liability needs to be addressed soon or it will have a significant negative impact on the state’s ability to balance its budget.

The address from the Republican House members was expected to be the first thing on the agenda for the School Board this evening when the meeting starts at 5 p.m.
